Emmanuel Kariuki

I enjoy writing books mainly for children and adolescents.  I also love reading especially on ancient civilizations. I have  done extensive reading on Kikuyu culture and Egypt's 18th Dynasty. I have formed certain opinions about the Kikuyu and their origins in ancient Egypt and I am causing quite a stir with my writings on that comparative subject.

Discovering Hubpages was one of my milestones. I got a forum to express my views and teach others what I know in an interactive manner like no other. I am learning something new everyday as I engage my readers from all corners of the earth.

Besides my day job as an Exhibition Designer I also illustrate books and translate from Swahili and Kikuyu into English and vice versa. As an accomplished artist, I work in Fibre-glass, water colours and oil paints. I have illustrated many books for publishers in Nairobi, but currently I only illustrate my own work unless I am commissioned for a very special project

D. Young Adult’s Photo Novel

The House of Mercy was selected from six scripts that resulted from two workshops in Dar-es-salaam in 2009 and 2010, with funding from UNESCO. The Participating publishers from six African Countries (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Namibia) were funded to publish translations in any African language of their choice. Focus published in Kikuyu; Tanzania in Kiswahili; Uganda in Luganda and Zimbabwe in Shona. I do not yet know the language selected by Zambia and Namibia.
